The Shrews were hoping to continue the positive run in the league against Swindon Town after decent results vs Coventry City and Hartlepool United. We played host to The Robins who have not shied away from the money this season after snatching one of our players from us and a manager who likes his fair share of media attention – and he gets it. Anyway let’s get down to business and why we lost to Swindon, we just weren’t good enough. Graham Turner made two changes to the starting XI with Sam Winnal replacing Terry Gornell up front and Lee Collins replacing injured Joe Jacobson in the back line.

The first chance of the game fell to Shrewsbury Town, a Paul Parry corner was met by Marvin Morgan’s chest, then foot, which fired it well over the crossbar. Shrewsbury Town started to dominate with Loanee Winnal trying to make a hero of himself in the space of four minutes. The first chance was a low drill which went straight to Wes Foderingham’s hands. The next chance was another shot over the crossbar when Winnal headed over within the six yard box. Swindon got back into it on the 24th minute when Andy Williams capitalised on a rare Michael Hector mistake to come one-on-one with Chris Weale, who was rounded but the shot was thankfully narrowly missed the line. Another chance went begging for The Robins when Judas James Collins thought he would roll in the ball but was cleared off the line and over the crossbar by Darren Jones. Both sides go into the break without a goal.

HT: Shrewsbury Town 0-0 Swindon Town

It was Swindon who capitalised on the break after they had a shot which was fantastically saved by Salop shot-stopper, Chris Weale. Both sides made changes and it was Swindon who got the better of the tactical changes as the took the lead with a well worked and well deserved goal to put Swindon ahead. From there on in Swindon took control of the game and it was a case of when would they score again.

Shrewsbury Town really need to up their game if they are to stand a chance of staying up, we need to get some belief in the team. We took three months to find a striker and only have one for one-month (as of yet). We need the spirit from last year and a proven striker to prop up the table ecause from what I’ve seen so far is not good enough.

FT: Shrewsbury Town 0-1 Swindon Town

Man of the match – Michael Hector. Put in a great shift today and certainly showed that he is destined for bigger things. Really looking forward to seeing more of him and easily the best player vs Swindon Town.

Hero –

Chris Weale – Made some absolutely brilliant saves yesterday and as I said, getting better with every game

Villain

Paulo Di Canio – Enough said.
